Resin Replacement How-To

Step 1

Remove the black valve head and empty the used resin into a waste container.

  • Keep in mind that resin is considered environmentally safe and can be disposed of appropriately. Check your federal, state, and local ordinances for details.

  • Note that the distributor tube and basket will be removed during this step. You can also remove the basket from the bottom of the black head by unclipping it, allowing you to lube the O-ring inside the head if needed.

Step 2

Using water, rinse out any remaining resin from the tank.

Step 3

Return the distribution tube to the tank by placing tape over the top. This will prevent resin from entering the tube. Then place the funnel into the top of the tank.

Step 4

Pour new resin into the tank, being sure to do so slowly. Shake or tap the tank to ensure that all of the resin is fully bedded in the tank.

Step 5

Remove the funnel and the tape.

Step 6

Ensure that all O-rings are fully sealed and lubed, using the provided lube.

Step 7

Ensure that the top basket is clipped onto the black valve head. The basket will slide over the distribution tube and then slip onto the black valve head once you thread it down.

Step 8

Ensure that both sides of the red valve assembly are screwed tightly onto the black head. Note: only hand-tighten.

Step 9

Turn the water supply back on and be sure to flush the system out for 1-2 minutes. This ensures that the resin dust is washed away before use. After this system flush, your unit is fully operational and ready to use.
